Reading between the lines in the 2Q26 Management Discussion and Analysis of ATP 30 Public Company Limited (ATP30): Revenue up 4.0%. Net profit down 52.6%. And a Bt1,520m backlog disclosed in 1Q26 that does not appear in 2Q26.
The numbers
Fuel-linked rates and new electric buses lift revenue
ATP30 provides employee transportation by bus and van to industrial customers, mainly on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard. In 2Q26, revenue from services rose 4.0% YoY to Bt207m. The MD&A attributes the increase to service rate adjustments in line with higher diesel prices and to the deployment of eight additional electric buses during the quarter. The 1Q26 MD&A flagged contracts for eight electric vehicles that were due to start earning revenue in 2Q26.
Diesel costs weigh on margins and net profit
Gross margin fell to 17.4% from 21.7% in 2Q25 and 20.0% in 1Q26, as cost of services rose 9.7% YoY. The MD&A cites higher diesel prices from the Middle East conflict and fuel purchase restrictions. These led the company to refuel all vehicles daily, adding non-revenue trips, until normal practice resumed in June. Net profit fell 52.6% YoY to Bt8m, a net margin of 3.7% against 8.1% in 2Q25.
What the numbers don’t show
Comparing the 2Q26 MD&A with 1Q26, a few things stand out.
Backlog, client count, and electric fleet split do not appear in 2Q26
The 1Q26 MD&A reported 62 clients and a backlog of approximately Bt1,520m, noting that 1Q26 revenue fell due to certain customers not renewing contracts. It counted a fleet of 818 vehicles, including 60 affiliated vehicles, with 720 combustion-engine and 38 electric vehicles among the company-owned vehicles.
The 2Q26 MD&A reports neither a client count nor a backlog and does not address contract renewals. It reports 767 vehicles, with no reference to affiliated vehicles and no electric-versus-combustion-engine split of the total, though it lists the nine vehicles added by type. It adds a new figure: 477 vehicles now free of installment debt.
EV charging stations are not referenced in 2Q26
The 1Q26 MD&A said the company continues to focus on expanding both its EV transportation business and its commercial EV charging station operations. It linked both to national Net Zero targets.
The 2Q26 MD&A discusses EV services at length, framed around customer demand. It says EV expansion will take into account investment returns and service costs, and that the shift has affected energy costs. Charging stations are not mentioned.
Administrative expenses and financial position sections do not appear in 2Q26
The 1Q26 MD&A included a section on administrative expenses, attributing the 1.4% YoY rise to personnel costs related to business expansion. It also included a financial position table, with debt-to-equity rising to 1.29x from 1.12x at the end of FY25.
The 2Q26 MD&A contains neither section. Administrative expenses rose 19.6% YoY to Bt21m in 2Q26, a figure shown in the results table without commentary.
